DESCRIPTION:This is a community-organized Magic: The Gathering weekend in Greater Boston\, featuring main events for the Old School 93/94 and Premodern formats. Since 2018\, LOBSTERCON has been New England Old School’s marquee event\, continuing as an annual charity fundraiser for Room to Grow\, a non-profit organization based in Boston. \n\n\n\nAn entry fee of $90 for all players will cover registration in any and all of the weekend’s events: the Premodern MAIN EVENT (Friday\, September 20)\, the Old School MAIN EVENT (Saturday\, September 21)\, the X-Point Old School American Open (Friday\, September 20)\, and the Premodern OFF-SITE EVENT (Saturday\, September 21). All events will take place within a 10-15 minute walk from the main venue\, with cash bars on-site and easy access to a wide range of carry-in food options in Cambridge. \n\n\n\nOld School Main Event hosted by New England Old SchoolSaturday\, September 21\, 10:30am – 9pm. The seventh-annual edition of our seafood-driven Old School charity tournament. The format for the main event will be Atlantic 93/94\, no proxies allowed\, typical EC/American reprint allowances as with past LOBSTERCON events. There might even be an actual Top 8 this year. Deck photos will be required\, to be submitted before the first round of the main event. Registration will be capped at 256 players and there will be no waitlist or other accommodations after registration closes.

DESCRIPTION:Super friendly and fun event\, held by Martin already teh fourth year in a row in his private premises.Invitational only. If you want to participate\, make sure you play soime other German old school events and you will get the connections. 😉 \n\n\n\nThis year we played OS Brawl as decided by the last year’s winner Erik. \n\n\n\nOS Brawl rules were slightly changed: \n\n\n\n\nFull Gentleman bannings: no Mind Twist (🥺)\, Library of Alexandria\, Ancestral Recall (Phil you missed that!)\, Braingeyser\, City in a Bottle and Karakas were allowed\, avoiding one sided games as much as possible.\n\n\n\nThe powerhouses Rubinia Soulsinger and Tetsuo Umezawa were not allowed as Commander\, but could be played as normal card in the deck\n\n\n\nMana Burn applied 🔥\n\n\n\nAdditional Commanders could be proposed by the players\, though at the end everyone sticked to the default cards.\n\n\n\nhttps://sentineloldschoolmtg.com/old-school-brawl-a-93-94-commander-variant/\n\n\n\n\nEdit: Report is here https://germanoldschool.org/2024/09/30/shield-wall-cup-iv/ 🙂

DESCRIPTION:Invitational event in the Netherlands \n\n\n\nDwarven Warriors #7– AlphaBeta 40 League \n\n\n\nSeptember 28th\, 202410:30 MeetupTournament ends after the last man can either no longer stand up straight or keep his eyes open. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n2024: AB4K as played by Alpha Males \n\n\n\nAs the ancient scrolls of Magic are unfurled once more\, a select gathering of the most seasoned spellcasters has been called to compete in a tournament unlike any other. This year\, the Alpha-Beta Magic the Gathering tournament will echo the primordial days of our beloved game\, harkening back to the very origins of spellcasting prowess. \n\n\n\nIn this hallowed competition\, the rules of the Alpha 40 League will guide the duels\, yet with a twist that only the most cunning of mages can appreciate: Beta cards will be somewhat permitted\, but only as long as the Alpha 40 League authorities will remain ignorant of their presence. Needless to say\, regarding the full weight of the consequences and penalties: all damages resulting from the violation of keeping this a secret shall rest solely upon the shoulders of the transgressor. \n\n\n\nYet\, do not be deceived by the inclusion of Beta cards; while these artifacts may offer new opportunities\, they must be wielded with the wisdom and restraint befitting a true Alpha 40 disciple. The path to victory will be fraught with peril\, as the spirits of the earliest spellcasters watch from beyond\, judging those who dare to tread upon the sacred ground of this tournament. \n\n\n\nTherefore\, this years rules read as follows: \n\n\n\n\nAlpha 40 League rules (for those who have been living under a rock\, read them here)\n\n\n\nTrial summer 2024 mulligan rule\, which can be read here (rule 23)\n\n\n\nProxy cards printed in Beta are considered appropriate (notably\, Circle of Protection: Black and some obscure land cards)\n\n\n\nAdditionally\, standard AB4K rules\, such as the restriction of Control Magic\, still apply\n\n\n\nIn case of contradicting and/or ambiguous rules and/or ambivalent interpretation\, the conflict will be resolved over a round of drinks. In case the score has not yet been settled\, repeat prior actions until players have reached an agreement or any one of the players passes out.\n\n\n\n\nNeedless to say\, Beta cards will be considered proxies and are frowned upon\, though still allowed as tools of the trade\, as per usual in AB4K.
